    Default Previous AWB

Was in a debate yesterday with an anti. He said, "They were banned before and nothing happened."

I wasn't old enough at the time to understand. Not only am I old enough now, I fully understand where we're headed. History shows time and time again the eventual outcome.

Ok, now that I got that out of my system, I'll be serious.

You've seen the statistics on disarmament and genocide.

You've seen the statistics on school shootings before, during, and after the AWB.

You've seen the statistics on what weapons are most used in crimes.

You've seen the FBI/DOJ statistics on crime during the AWB.

You've seen the statistics on mass shootings and school shootings during the AWB.

In every case things were better before there was an AWB and after it expired. During the AWB things were worse.

If you have not seen the above mentioned statistics then search because they are all over the place

"Something" did happen - Newt Gingrich became Speaker of the House. People formed "militias". People started talking about the "New World Order". A lot of folks got radicalized, angry, scared and a lot of Liberal stuff got kicked to the curb.

Most of all a lot of people, probably more folks than after Watergate, started to distrust and even hate their own Government.

When see your friend again give them this proposition - "Get the marijuana and crank out of the hands of school kids. Once you accomplish this feat come back and tell me how you're going to disarm adults".

If they start talking about "doing something" tell them, "We have 3,000,000 adults in prison, half of them for drug offenses. Police confiscate property, money and cars without trial, under civil forfeiture, because of "association with drugs". You cannot deposit more than $7,500 in cash into a bank without filling out paper work. People in Mexico are cutting each others heads off with Chainsaws. Police in Mexico have to travel in armored vehicles because of drug gangs who are shipping drugs into America.

Thousands of young men each year die over drug turf and drug debt. They shoot each other right and left to sell illegal drugs. They can buy guns from the same people who sell them their drugs. China has exported fully automatic rifles to America. People are dying in the streets because of the drug trade. They're dying in prison. They're dying of overdose because of high potency drugs.

After all of this, and more, American school kids can still buy drugs or find someone who can buy drugs. People want to take guns from adults but they can't take drugs from little kids".

Then you ask them, "How far are you personally willing to go to ban guns?"

See if they have the guts to create a Nazi style police state. When they admit that tell them that you don't make deals with Nazis.

Do you know the saying "Going Postal"? It came out of the 1980's when there was a rash of Post office worker shooting sprees. There was also a bunch of mall shootings ( in Springfield PA we had Silvia Segrist shoot up a mall with a 10/22), and there was plenty of school shootings.

The two bad one that got politicians talking about an AWB was the San Ysidro McDonald's massacre, where the shooter had a semi auto uzi, a shotgun and a browning hi-power.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Ysi...d%27s_massacre

and the Stockon schoolyard shooting where the shooter used a Type 56 (chinese varient of the AK-47)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cleveland_School_massacre

But the big thing that push it over the edge was the Waco seige.

I still scratch my head with the original 1994 AWB, it banned bayonets and bayonet lugs, but none of these massacres ever involved a bayonet.

So did it help stop spree shootings? No not in the least bit. There was still plenty of school shootings, most notably Columbine in 1999. The was plenty of workplace shootings (Google Mark O. Barton Stockton GA shooting in 1999 it was the 2nd worst US workplace shooting to date). There was also plenty of mall shootings.

Also spree killing happen everywhere, regardless of the gun laws. Here is an international list.

Crazy never takes a holiday or follows the rules. The don't need to ban guns, they need to ban crazy.
