Default Lancaster County back to 2 weeks to 45 days for ltcf!

Years ago it had always taken 2+ weeks to get my carry permit in Lancaster. This year for renewal they did it right there on the spot... In and out in 20 minutes.

My mom just went to get her permit last week and they told her 2 weeks, and they are able to take up to 45 days if they want to.

Supposedly they have been getting alot of people coming in to get permits since Sandy Hook and they decided to go back to their old time line.

Apologize if this is old news.

Demand is higher and they are busy and 45 days is within the law

    What's the problem?

We've been spoiled because it normally only takes 15 minutes from the time you walk in the door.

Don't recall saying there was a problem. Just giving a heads up to any one going in for renewal to not wait until the last week.

I've had my LTCF for about 7 years, and in the two times I've renewed I've been in and out in under 15. Filled the app out in advance both times.

As long as one is still legally eligible, they are exempt from the licensing requirement for six months after the expiration date of their LTCF. Since this is well beyond the maximum legal processing time (45 days), there should be no issue even if one waits until the date of expiration to apply for renewal.

Cross-post from Dauphin County sub-forum. I went last Friday to the courthouse to renew my LTCF. 15 minutes for the form and photo, but the deputy said it is taking three weeks for them to be issued.

Took a friend to get his first LTCF in Chester County. We were told that they have gone from 30 applications per day to one hundred! Not sure what that will do to the wait time, but friend was told he will get it within 45 days.

Thank you for ^^^^^^^^. I was not aware of this. It does explain why the deputy said there wouldn't be a problem with my permit expiring on the 13th and the three week processing time.
