My first build, a VZ58
So I had been wanting to build an ak or something like that now for a while. Well i gave in and decided too, which ended up being a vz85v, reason being that i had a kit and all necessary parts available for my purchase. I also liked the idea of the vz because of the different factor, and knew it was a little more of a challenge than an ak, which i like. I am a general machinist, and had access to all tools needed, and had enough knowledge of the functions and such of firearms, and had fixed many, but had never built one.
Well the build really went well, did all the necessary steps of building it (headspaceing, 922r stuff, etc.) and i put 7 rounds down the tube a few days ago for a test, and everything worked as it should, was smooth, fed great, everything worked as it should. Im really surprised and very happy with the whole build, was very fun, and wasn't a moment in the build that i wasn't enjoying.
So only thing left to do now is to bead blast it and throw some good high temp enamel on it, then i finally get to have some fun. After this build i am really wanting to build others and more challenging ones. Of course have to throw a ak or two into the list too, lol
The picture is the vz kit when i got it,and the finished (almost) project, just doesn't have any paint besides the original on it.

Very nice, can't help to think that, worst case scenario, with the current nonsense going on in Washington this may have been your first and last build. I mean that thing looks like a death machine

Re: My first build, a VZ58
Thanks, id really like to be able to build a few more of differnt types, but like you said this could be my first and last, but at least i wont have to regret not building one at all if anything is to happen that would prohibit home building/kits, etc.

I definitely like my vz more than my ak, but that could also be becuase i built the vz also haha. But really the vz seems like a more solid rifle, at least it does to me.

Re: My first build, a VZ58
I built one a few years back, I fell in love with the gun. If the AK-47 is a Chevy... the VZ.58 is a Cadillac!!!
I want your vz.33
