It means the government establishment knows it can't keep up doing what they want to do if it hurts the population enough to motivate them to take arms against them.

Anything short of the government killing it's own citizens isn't going to result in anyone taking up arms against it. This is 2013, not 1813. People in this country can't even organize a viable third political party.

The US govt has mastered incompetence, it is second nature at this point. We have had growing financial problems for years, it continues to get worse, and they will continue to screw us. It's the American way. Logic is not needed.

That was the nagging feeling in the back of my mind as well. I tell myself not to be a tinfoil hat guy so I am really just stocking up on water, food, etc in case there is a big snow storm, hurricane, tornado, etc. In reality, there could always be civil disobedience from an attempted gun confiscation, economic collapse or austerity measures.

In which case, a 30rd mag on your AR or AK would really be handy to control looters and desperate people.

I simply do not know but if you pay attention to history, we know that Greece wasn't pretty. I suspect that could easily happen here but I believe most of that would be confined to the large cities. Argentina is very ugly and could spread out further into the burbs. Gun confiscation in the US... now that could be downright crazy unless it was well thought out and they used a trickle in / divide and conquer approach.

I think the Community Organizer in Chief is listening to his experience and that of his "advisers" hoping to "start momentum". He wants to duplicate the "success of Obamacare" with a similar "signature achievement" on "gun violence".

He could be "raising consciousness" in the Marxist sense, hoping to "inspire the masses" to "follow him".

Mr. Obama is confusing demonstrations and "activism" with how things really work inside the Beltway. He's not even following the same plan that got Obamacare through Congress - Nancy Pelosi and Senate Democrats played a lot of games to get that law passed. He cannot get 2,200 pages of Pork and goodies to buy votes this time around.



Congress HATES to be pushed around by Executive. For all of their many faults they take their role - being the People's Representative - pretty seriously. They like their titles, their Staff, their perks but most of all their power.


Mr. Obama could also be faking us out so that we don't take this seriously and the next time some waste of breathing air shoots up a school he'll have some legislative trash in the hopper ready to go.


My take is this - Keep the pressure on. Be a polite, persistent pain in the ass to your representatives.

You guys might want to take a look at all the NRA supported Dems there are out there. The NRA supports a boat load of Dems that are gonna waffle on their convenient support for the NRA to draw votes when they needed to. The NRA does not care about party affiliation. This is just two in our region. IMHO NRA needs to get their blinders off and look at overall freedoms to Americans. When they choose to support convenient politicians that are soft on freedoms this is what they get.
