I didn't know they had a website. I'll check it out.

Every other club i belonged/belong too required a background check or a LTCF that waived the background check and another member that will sponsor you RVRG has been the first where i have not encountered any of that

I just spoke with Mike and Fred this past Monday and the process for new members is changing, though in not exactly sure when. New members must undergo a vetting period. They must have a sponsor to get an application. They are required to turn in the paperwork in person at a meeting and must visit the range twice with their sponsor. Hopefully this will filter out some of the undesirables.

I guess I've been lucky. I haven't come across any "undersireables", per say, unless you consider the brass hounds who pick up your hot brass as soon as it hits the ground. One guy in particular I've been running into at the pistol range is a bit different from the norm. He is of Asian descent, short, and NEVER says a word to you. Kind of odd compared to the usual friendly sort I encounter. But, he keeps to himself, isn't obnoxious about anything.
I might head on over to the pistol range this morning as soon as it opens, or soon thereafter.

The brass hounds are great. They pick it all up for you, and when you're finished shooting, you can demand it all back!

Interesting information, thanks for sharing. I was thinking about joining the club earlier this year (when the application form was still posted on the website) but I got busy and never got around to it. I just checked the website and the application form isn't there anymore so I figured something had changed...

Did Mike and Fred give any tips on how to find a sponsor? I'm relatively new to the area and I don't know any members of the club.

My suggestion to anyone new looking to join the club would be to come over to the club on a Monday. Ridge and Valley hosts traps shooting on Mondays and it is open to the general public. This would be a great time to meet some of the club officers and members and possibly find a sponsor. I hope this helps some.

Thanks for the suggestion, sounds like a good idea. However, after seeing my lack of trap shooting skills I doubt anyone would want to sponsor me

You're probably right. If I had been there and seen a poor trap performance, I might just kick you in the jewels, then spit in your hair.
Actually, if you want to see bad trap shooting, you should join some of us that shoot at Paletown every blue moon, now THAT'S some ugly shooting.
