Anybody have insight on Kahr models
I have been shopping around and am interested in a Kahr in 40 cal. Everything I have read on here from our fellow members has been positive concerning the manufacture of the pistols. However I have narrowed my interest down to the PM40 and the CM40, the problem I am having it trying to figure out why the PM40 cost almost double what the CM40 does.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
I have a CW9 and mine has been 100%. It's the lower end slightly larger model. The PM series has some parts that are milled instead of MIM like the slide release/takedown pin. Also the PM has polygonal rifling vs the standard rifling in the CM series. The PM will have a nicer engraved logo on the slide, and will be machined down more with a different profile on the slide. As far as I know those are the only differences.
I've heard of some issue with the larger calibers, but from what I understand it's the .380 models that have the most issues.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
I have the cw9 and it came with a cardboard box and one mag. The p9 comes with a case 2 mags and a match grade barrel. I assume the difference in the 40 cal versions would be similar. Besides a few cosmetic differences I don't believe there any other internal changes.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
Thanks for the insight sounds to me like for a pistol of this size and to use as a conceal carry piece the added cost of the PM match grade barrel is probably better put to use to buy more ammo.

Pm40 has a higher magazine capacity, larger barrel and grip, and ships with one extra mag compared to the cm40. Pricing could also be due to higher demand of one of this pistols.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
The PM40 will come with an extra mag, however the barrel and mag capacity is exactly the same. The PM40 may come with an extended mag, but the standard mag capacities are the same.
Moving to a CW40 or a P40 would give you a longer barrel and higher mag capacity. But as long as you stay in the "M" series of pistols the capacity and barrel will be the same.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
My CM9 has been flawless through about 100 rounds. As you stated, the .380 is shaky at first but after about 175 rounds it's getting better, not necessarily something you want to hear in your everyday carry. Nonetheless, the p380 is a pleasure to shoot and very accurate.

Re: Anybody have insight on Kahr models
The barrels are same length but different rifling.
PM40 = Polygonal
CM40 = Coventional
Can mere mortals tell the difference at close distances, doubt it.
Another difference is the PM series has dovetailed vs pinned (CM) front sights. I'm not an expert on this but understand dovetailed to be more secure mounting technique.
I own and love my PM9.
