HOW TO APPLY FOR A PENNSYLVANIA LICENSE
TO CARRY A CONCEALED FIREARM


**** DUE TO THE INCREASED SPEED AND EFFICIENCY OF THE PA INSTANT CHECK SYSTEM (PICS), AND THEREFORE THE PENNSYLVANIA STATE POLICE, WE HAVE TRANSITIONED TO A
ONE-STEP PROCESS. WE NO LONGER ACCEPT MAIL OR EMAIL APPLICATIONS ****

Both NEW and RENEWAL Applicants need ONLY do the following:

1. Appear in-person with a valid and accurate PA Drivers' License or PA Photo ID Card.
2. Completely fill out an application (References are NOT required for Renewals ONLY.)
3. Upon approval, payment of $20.00 in the form of CASH ONLY is required.

The aforementioned process should be completed in five to ten minutes and your license will be issued the SAME DAY.

I just renewed and over heard one of the employees say that they've been processing 1300 LTCF's a week! That moved me to take some pics (nothing great) to help out those who are not only newbies to firearms but the process as well. I hate going downtown and do so only every 5 years so heres some visuals....

Primary Identification - (A CURRENT & VALID Pennsylvania Drivers License OR a CURRENT Pennsylvania Identification Card)

Secondary Identification - (Voters Registration, Vehicle Registration, Current W-2 Form, PA Hunting/Fishing License OR Professional License issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania) -- Must have CURRENT Home Address
NOTE: The primary and secondary identification MUST have the same address on both.

RENEWING? Heres what you need...

$20.00 CASH

Secondary Identification - (Previous Permit which can be no longer than 60 days expired.)

I've been to my local sheriff's office twice in the last two days to pick up my approved renewal but have been told the 'system' is down so they can't get in to issue the new license. Anyone else having the same problem?

I ran in to the same problem just this morning. They said they don't have an ETA for when whatever the problem is will be resolved...

nice, i just sent my renewal in two weeks ago. that sucks. you think they would have more than one location.
