My problem with WMLs still is it's a massive violation of Rules 2 & 4.

You don't need to point a light at someone to use the light and illuminate a room.

In all the scenarios I have run in clearing my house, I only use the light to identify..never to light my way or allow anyone to know where I am.

    Isn't that what most do?

No idea, but people always assume that if you have a weapon light, you keep it on the whole time and give away your position, and point a loaded gun at people.

Yeppers. Get a bright enough flashlight with the right pattern and it'll illuminate a room well enough when you have your firearm pointed safely at the ground.

The light pattern on these olights is focused around 3-4 feet with a beam and the perimeter is around 16 feet with a lower throw of light...which allows you to identify but also see the outlying areas.

I run drills with both of my kids and we never point the light or the blue guns at anyone...its all in the way you train.

I get enough splash from my WML's ...you don't need to point to see what is in the room.

I have an old Insight Technologies M3 LED for my G19 house gun. The "LED" means it has a supplemental red LED under the main light. I guess it's to allow use of night vision or at a minimum, keep you from losing YOUR night vision when using a bright white light. Even that low powered red LED is enough to cast a soft, red glow in a room, allowing you to see.

Seems like "lasers" became the next fad and the aux LEDs became a thing of the past.

They were avail in white and green LED as well.

I go for walks at night with the dog and every once in a while he starts barking...I carry and will hit the light in the direction on his bark...deer. One time I swear I saw a coyote. It was a lot bigger than the foxes we have around us...and it was no dog.
