So did anyone take advantage of the great Walmart ammo purge today? 5.56 and most center fire handgun calibers were up to 60% off. My one friend spent over $2k on ammo today going store to store cleaning them out.

I went into a Walmart in Easton yesterday to get a new set of electric hair clippers and walked by the ammo cases and it was about 80% cleaned out of the common service calibers. They had a few box of WWB 9mm, a few boxes of .40 S&W, and a good amount of 45 acp. They only had a few boxes of 150 round .223 value packs but they were still full price from what I saw. Lots of .22lr, .38 special, and hunting calibers. I wasn't looking to buy anything anyway.

I was off today and don't go back till Sat, so I can't say if ammo is marked down at my store.

I rarely go through that department since it's not my area, and it just pisses me off now, so I have to have a reason to go there.

I do need to go use my bonus discount (for working Thanksgiving) by Friday though, so I'll take a look.

If it was like the Gander in Dickson City, the 30% came off the newly raised prices.

BTW, when Dickson City Gander closed I purchased four gun display cases for the gun room. They may be selling the store fixtures also.

Just stopped at Brownsville walmart and they had some 7.62x54R and .380 left that I bought. Still a bunch of 45acp, .40, and .38 spl there.

Back in 2012 when the shelves were emptying out of all the popular rounds I noticed a bunch of .40 sitting on the shelf. That's when I purchased my first .40 caliber pistol (now have a couple). Guess I might run to our local Wally's and see what's available. Hopefully whatever .40 they have will be on sale

Mt pleasant had a bunch of 45acp $.17 per round, and about 700 223 left at $.15 per. Reloading stuff was on clearance as well

I almost did that, picked up a .40 version of the P30. I did some quick math and figured out that I'd have to shoot several thousands (well over 10k iirc?) of rounds of "cheaper" (at the time) .40 ammo to break even on the additional cost of another firearm. The Great Obama Shortages didn't last long enough and I don't shoot enough in a short enough time frame to make it economically viable, and prices stabilized and are now currently at some of the cheapest I've ever seen since I started shooting in 2009.
