I just posted in another thread that I'm debating getting a Shield now.

Hate to buy something I've never even held before, but the reviews seem solidly in the "can't go wrong" camp.
    And for a flat $200?
Maybe I can find something to sell...

Dude, if you don't have one already, trust me, you want one.

    Wants and needs...

As I just posted in the other thread:

Unfortunately I have come to my senses and will not be ordering one.

I just had to put rear brakes, rotors, and calipers on the truck.
The truck needs tires - badly.
The window motor went out in the car.
The condensate pump for the house AC died and I had to order a new one.
The AC for the sun room stopped working.
I caught a rock to the left lens of my glasses today and the scratch is large enough to justify needing new glasses.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few things - and this was all just in the last few days.

It never ends and it's getting old.

Honestly.....it's the mature and responsible decision....just not the fun one. Glad you are keeping the priorities straight.

I was going to add that http://www.zennioptical.com/tv also has great deal on glasses. You can even upload a picture of yourself (or someone else but not sure why you would) to see how they would look on you.
I am in the process of ordering my first pair from them but a coworker as used them several times and is very satisfied.

FWIW, I passed on the $200 Shield as well. Have deposits on a Glock 17L and 24 that should be coming in soon and really want and RPR 6.5 so all other purchases are on hold.

Good Luck with the rest of those items

Thanks for the tips, but I won't do glasses online.
The whole process makes no sense to me. Nobody to help you select a style that works and nobody to properly fit them.
I've had nothing but nightmares in the past when it comes to getting my glasses "done right" and I'd rather pay a lot to have them done right.
My wife ordered glasses online, but she only needs them to be legal when driving and never wears them otherwise so no big deal for her if it's all not 100% perfect.
Add in my new need for bifocals and there's just no way I'm leaving my ability to see to some online store.

EDIT: The one bright spot is that I do have two other pair. When I last got glasses I did the buy one get one and then I decided to add a third pair at a discount that I would use for work only. Those are the ones with the big nick in them. They were getting pretty beat up anyway with tiny specks all over the lenses.
I don't have to rush out and buy new glasses in order to see, so I'm thankful for that.
I do however need new glasses anyway as I need bifocals and have for at least a year.

I didn't think it possible, but it seems a sub $300 AR15 isn't that far fetched.

    from grabagun.com

    $344

    After $75 Mail In Rebate

DPMS Panther Oracle Black .223 / 5.56 NATO 16-inch 10Rd Mag and Two 30Rd Mags

Most of the budget guns come with no mag.
Factoring in roughly $30 worth of mags makes this a virtual $314 rifle
