Default Ammo oddity given to.me this morning.

    https://flic.kr/p/2pLerSG

A friend of mine gave me a partial box of this ammo.
Straight walled. I was starting to Google about it but got side
    tracked.
    Cartridge comparison with.300 winmag, .06, 308, 30-30 and 44

    Anyone familiar with it?
    Ballistically similar to .35 Rem.
    Straight walled.
    Looks cool

An interesting article on some 9.3 cartridges.

My old neighbor gave me a fired 9.3x72R case several years ago. It’s an interesting item.

Figure 400 yards, 500 yards tops for the fastest of these. Hunters needing more reach should choose different cartridges.
Christ almighty! I can't even see close to that far away, let alone would consider shooting at something that far away. I certainly wouldn't expect to hit something that far away, unless it were MAYBE the very large side of a very large barn.

I'll check the OAL when I get home but for comparison, the .300 winmag is 3.34".

The OAL of the cartridge is 3.349.
The case length of a fired round is 2.823.

This rifle / cartridge combo would be legal.for deer in.our special.regs areas.

Yet .30-30 is not. That just makes so much sense.

It probably would have been better if they just let all bullets originally designed before 1900 for scattergun only zones, instead of the arbitrary straight wall BS.

That is a still a common hunting cartridge in Europe. Lots of double barrel, drillings, and vierling guns were chambered in such. Probably some bolt actions as well.

That is the cartridge that I'm considering to use as a wildcat for a future custom Martini build.
