As a comparison, the lowest priced comparable upper from PSA is $180 (vs $105/Combat Armory)

Granted, the PSA is assembled, so that's a consideration.

The only things I can say about PSA are the barrel is 4150 and nitride coated where the specs for CA aren't listed at all. We all also know that PSA uppers run exceptionally well and have a lifetime warranty.

    $105 upper from Combat Armory
    $130 complete lower from PSA
    $45 BCG
    $10 charging handle

    $290 AR15 (add optic/BUIS)

In 2012 you were lucky to find an AR15 you could buy for two THOUSAND and ninety dollars.

If you build a lower yourself, you could be looking at $30 for the lower, $25 for a parts kit on sale, $15 for a stock/buffer kit, and $20 to transfer, which brings it down to $250. Add $10 Ebay flip up sights and a 7 dollar d&h mag, and your at $267 for a fully functional just add ammo ar15.

If I remember right, a typical AR was about $600 in the mid to late 1980's.
    That was pre-ban.

Probably only a handful of manufactures and companies building rifles as compared to today.

If I recall correctly, around 2006/2007 it would cost roughly $1,000 to buy one at a gun shop.
I was informed that you could "build" one for a lot less and that's how I got my first, previously unobtainable (due to price) AR15.
Still was looking at a LOT more than it costs to build one today.
