that is something to watch with all companies. many will do an increase, offset it with a "sale" which either retains the old price for a limited time or slightly reduces the old price. viola! when the sale is over the product is at the new price which is higher than old.
think of it like a "last chance" to get it at the prior price or better.

hearth manufacturers do it routinely around their yearly summer increases. $300 increase $200 discount or $300 discount after a $200 increase, however just prior to the increase they were running the same $100 discount on the old price.
prior sale 3499 - 100 = 3399.
post increase "big sale" 3699 - 300 = 3399.
kind of like how people jump all over a "no tax" sale but scoff at a measely 10% sale. [our tax is 6% people!]
