Well, I can't figure that out fella's, the math is all wrong IMO to hang onto something that has little value when you can put it towards something that is.

So EM has a $50 rifle.
Why not then cut your losses and turn that into a $300 rifle?
Why hang onto a $50 rifle unless you like it, in which case there is the reason not to get rid of it.
If you don't like it or don't shoot it, why not dump it?

That Radom I just bought:
Asking price was $995.
Real value is about $1200+
So I traded a S&W I paid $350 for and the shop gave me $500 in trade for.

$995-$150=$845 that I have into a $1200+ pistol that will do nothing but go up in value.
Trading in a pistol gained me $355 the way I look at it.

I can buy another of those $350 pistols later for the same price if I search around like I did with that one so I don't see me being out anything.

Even if I had "lost" money on the pistol and say I got only $200 for it (a $150 loss on what I paid for it), that would be $1145 into a $1200+ pistol, I'm still ahead and now I have something that will increase in value.

I don't know, I guess I just enjoy the trading up part of guns more than others, and that's OK.

never thought i'd have enough dough to "invest" in guns, i know the price will always go up on arms, shouldn't have shot my x54r ammo, it's doubled since i bought. however, everything i own, i shoot. they're all tools and none are pristine or collectors.
my son has some cash saved up... maybe i can convince him to buy half a dozen "name brand" ar's and seal them up for long term storage.

I'd actually be ahead even at $45, but selling a perfectly good rifle for $45 is idiotic - hell, that's less than 500 rds of ammo for it!
No - I'll keep it.

I like all the guns I own. I liked most of the ones I've sold over the years when I needed money too. And I never replaced any of them.
You know why? Because the SKS I paid $119 for NEW would cost $400 to replace. I ain't paying $400 for an SKS!
