Gun in Arlington Cemetery
I live in PA, and recently burried my son in Arlington cemetery. I can make the drive back and forth in 1 day, but what do I do with my gun, as they are not allowed in Arlington. They randomly search cars, so trying my luck is not an option, and getting a room can be an expensive option. Anyone have a solution?

You could check with them if locking it up in the trunk is sufficient. Then again you could fall victim to being hassled by someone else there that doesn't know that.
Sucks though, ran into the same thing at the National Cemetary of the Alleghenies.Fortune fingers the fearless

Re: Gun in Arlington Cemetery
First of all, with a son of my own currently serving, I want to offer my condolences on the loss of your son. Small consolation though it may be, I thank you and your son for your sacrifices.
My immediate response is to suggest just leaving your gun at home for this one trip (or any others to Arlington). Your first priority is a successful trip, and I know you don't want the firearm to get in the way of that.
The only other suggestion I can make is to sign yourself up at the OpenCarry.org forum, and post this question there. Virginia, even northern Virginia, is very firearms friendly, and open carry friendly as well. That OC website was founded there. If anyone would have a solution for you it would most likely be those folks.
Like most folks, I hate to deviate from my normal carry routines, but I will if what I am about to do is even more important to me than carry. I grew up in Maryland, so going around without a weapon on me is something I did for over 48 years anyway.
Good luck. I hope you find a solution.Last edited by Curmudgeon; January 5th, 2013 at 03:40 PM.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

I'd recommend not carrying also while being extra careful and aware during your trip. Sorry you have to go there.

What many others have said. Visiting your son is what's important. My condolences.
