there's a lot of veterans and people still serving in the military that don't believe civilians should be able to own firearms. i talked to such a idiot at Quantico MCB while purchasing a firearm at the PX. This guy was visible pissed that I was purchasing a calico rifle w/100 rd drum. i asked him how he would protect his family if thieves broke into his home, his reply of course was he'd call the police. i asked him what he would do if he couldn't get to a phone and then asked him did he know how much damage someone can do to you in the 5-10 minutes it takes the police to get there? he marched off without answering my question
