Default S&W 686-4 snubbie (more pics)

I am pretty excited about this old S&W 686-4 (no lock) 2.5" .357 Magnum I just picked up today. What a great feel to this thing with the Hogue Monogrip and a trigger... well they just don't come like this from the factory anymore.

Distinguished Combat Magnum. Now that just sounds nice, doesn't it?

From what I gather, it was made between 1994 through 1996, before any MIM parts.

Anyhow, I'm going to have to find a nice belt holster for this guy. I'll probably not carry it regularly (have that niche filled), but it will certainly accompany me in the woods while hunting.

Can't wait to go to the range...

Very nice! Would love one to go with my 2.5" 386

I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

    Nice!

The -4 has all the latest durability enhancements and is the last engineering change before MIM was introduced.

    Enjoy.

Can anyone recommend a nice wooden grip for this? I'd like something slender if possible.

I've seen lots of reccos for Badger...

I haven't tried them yet. I kinda like the soft rubber ones...

    They look nice.
