    Default Forks Township Preemption Violation

I sent letters to Forks Township regarding a No Weapons sign near the Forks park.

So far I have heard back from the Chief of Police.

    he replied:

I brought this matter to the attention of the township Solicitor and board quite sometime ago. It is my understanding that this was addressed but I will revisit it. I will ask the public works director to ensure signage was properly addressed. Rest assured the police department is well versed in the law regarding this matter.

    to be continued !

Which park still has a sign. As far as I know all the signs were updated a few years ago. If you look closely at the signs coming into community park, you can see the blank line on the list of prohibited items where guns was painted over.

I did not know that but the next line says NO Weapons. So how would anybody know that guns are ok, but knives are not?

After contacting the Board of Supervisors and the town manager, I have had some success. I spoke with the Manager and he told me it would take a little while to change their ordinance but it would get done. In today's Express Times newspaper is the legal notice that the ordinance is being changed to conform to the PA weapons law.

A few days ago I sent another email to the Mayor of Easton, and I guess he changed his mind because he said they were in the process of changing their ordinance also.
