    Default 1911 under 700

I know there are some out there like uma, auto ordinance, and magnum research... I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with any of these brands and if they are worth it and hold up to the 1911 name that they are based apon....

Of those 3 brands you mention I only have experience with Auto Ordnance and I would avoid it like the plague....

If you want a new 1911 for under $700, I would look for a Remington R1, Ruger SR1911, Rock Island Tactical, or a Taurus PT1911.

Saw a damn nice brand new Rock Island RI tactical 10mm with v10 grips for $610- or $530 with NRA at my local shop. Definitely will buy that when I have the money but I doubt it will still be there. Maybe Ill get them to order me one. It looked nice.

I just bought a Rock Island Armory (used) for $350.

New they sell for around $450 and up depending on model and I've heard a lot of good things about them.

I haven't shot mine yet, so I can't give my impressions.

I've fired all of these a good bit except the RIA, and I feel the Magnum Research is a better pistol as far as fit and finish. Very accurate and reliable pistol. I got mine for $670 OTD.

They come in 10mm now?! If they are, I'm off to my local RIA dealer as soon as I get home from work tomorrow

No personal experience with any of those, but if you are looking for a 1911 at that price point, Id consider a used Springfield Armory. Lifetime warranty...

I recently bought a Rock Island Armory 2011 Tactical 45ACP with VZ Grips and hi-viz orange front sight for $599 at my LGS. Other models were $4-500 but I couldn't pass up the tactical! I have put 150 rounds through it and only a few small hiccups during the first 60 rounds after that not a problem.
