Help me pick a pistol light

I saw the laser/light thread but didn't see what I'm after.

I have few full size pistols I need a light I can attach to for home defense at night.
Here is my criteria:
Good value $$$$
Bright
Strobe option
Can manipulate with trigger finger. RH shooter
Light enough to not un balance the gun

I have never owned any lights for pistols but see the value of them in a HD situation at night.

What do you have that you can recommend?

I second the TLR series from Streamlight. I can't be happier with mine. Whatever you get, I urge you to train with it, even if it is in the daylight. Also, a q-tip dipped in some Flitz gun metal polish cleans the fouling off of the light in one quick pass.

I've used Surefire and they work well.

But, as funny as this sounds look a the rail mount pistol light sold at Walmart.
Not the one with the laser.
It is very bright, has the strobe function and is fairly well constructed.
RH or LH operation.

If you want to outfit many pistols its best to use one that is identical so as not to complicate user operation.

For $39 I tried one of the Wally lights on a Glock 19 and have so far been surprised to see how well it works.

I also use the Streamlight TLR-1s on both my G19 and P229E2.

They are great lights with great light output.

i see the Streamlight TLR-1s takes lithium batteries, is it the 123 or some other type?

anyone else have knowledge about the walmart brand? who makes it?

I put one of those Walmart lights on my Saiga 12. They are made by Nebo. Really like it, and cant beat the price.

I've used the TLR-1 for duty & have one on one of my personal guns. Good, rugged light for the money & I've never seen one go down. The Surefire X-300 is another great light.

As far as the strobe feature goes, it's fun to play with & it surely does disorient a person for a time. The problem is, are you really going to remember to use the correct number of taps on the switch, with the correct amount of pressure; in an emergency situation?

I have one of the TLR-1s models & I've found it's much faster & more reliable to just "light em up-turn it off" & move than to waste precious time using the strobe. K.I.S.S.
