Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
I've bought several used handguns at Markl's over the years. Some were trades, others were on consignment. Nice thing about cop guns is that most are rarely used.:-)

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
Well, I visited Markl's and was told that they basically don't sell to civilians. They had a few low-end handguns in stock that they would sell me, but that was it.
Don't even think about getting an AR from them. I was told they were currently only selling to Law Enforcement. It was a very strange experience altogether.

Re: List of Shops Around Pittsburgh
I was there today, too, and am sorry to hear about your experience. Yeah, basically it's an LEO shop that specializes in Glock (which they can only sell to LEO) with some "used" police trade-in's they can sell, as well as the "low end" (Sig?, Kel-Tec) that you saw, and which they can sell to civvies. They may be expanding their selection as well.
I might point out that this is only the second day in this new site, and the staff is coming up to speed. Still, I can see the selection of holsters, belts, and other gear is first class. I think it will be a great place to see and buy the stuff the big-box guys might not carry. And, these guys are very helpful, with lots of experience and patience.
Their bread and butter are LEOs, and LEOs know Markl's has a great rep. As a non LEO I have purchased a used Glock 17 there and was impressed by their professional approach.
If you want to check out the stuff the pros use, this is the place. I look forward to returning from time to time just to see how this place grows.Humility is endless. T.S. Eliot

LOL...I've purchased 6 handguns from within his basement and storefront. My mental image of Bill and that backroom curtain was of a magician's disappearing act ....it was like magic, he'd reappear w/ exactly what you were interested in or from the Wizard of Oz "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"

Braverman's gets an A=+ raiting for gunsmith work
A & S gets a A=+ for a nice clean range-----
It's up for sale---I'll go halfs with someone---though their $595,000 price tag
is much inflated.
