Don't pay attention to the website, I'm guessing that applies to internet orders, etc. Since you're in the North Hills, why not stop in and talk with the folks there.

Ive purchased hand guns from Markl supply and I am not a LEO.

Hi everyone. I'm new to this forum, and I was wondering if you could help me out. First let me explain that I am in the market to buy a rifle. I don't know much at all about guns. I was in the Army for one enlistment, and I know the M-16 inside and out. I'm looking to purchase a rifle similar to the M-16, whatever the civilian equivalent is.

Can someone tell me what kind of rifle I should be looking for?

Also - this is a great thread. Can someone recommend a dealer in the Pittsburgh area who can sell me a rifle like the one I mentioned above?

I hear some references to online purchases and then picking them up at a local gun shop. Can someone explain to me how this works? Also - can someone highly recommend such a place for me to shop? I'm a big fan of online shopping. I never thought it would be an option for a gun purchase.

One final question - how do I go about getting licensed? Can that be handled at the gun shop where I purchase my rifle? Is there anything I can do in advance of the purchase?

Again, I apologize for the very amateurish questions, but civilian gun ownership is new territory for me.

What your looking for is an AR-15 ... basically it's a semi auto version of the M16.

No license for it all. Just go to any gun shop that has them in stock and if you pass the PICS check ... you walk out with one.

If your looking for a full auto M16 ... then hope you have about $17K. You have to go to a class III dealer and get a $200 tax stamp. Check out the NFA/Class III forum here for more info.

Thanks for the good info. I've been doing research all day since I posted that, and I think I'm going to look into a Bushmaster, just not sure which one yet. I think I'm going to want to put a laser sight on it, so that might influence my choice.

Markl is a Bushmaster Dealer. I got my DCM XR from them. Other dealers told me 4 to 6 months, Markl had it for me in just shy of 8 weeks.

A very big +10 for Markl Supply. Over the last 40 odd years, I've done a lot of business up there and everybody there is a total professional. Fair prices, great service, and fantastic customer service if you have a problem with the purchase. The place is worth the trip, no matter where you come from.
