AR15 in Car

Hello I was wondering, I have a LTCF so the ? is. Can I have a unloaded AR15 in my car at all times and have a loaded mag in the glove box of the car even if I am not going to a shooting range with it.

Just my guess, but no. I dont think an AR is covered in any way by your ltcf because of the defenition of a firearm in pa or something I read long ago. Im pretty sure you cant even have one in your trunk in a soft case with loaded mags in the outer pockets of the case.
I really wouldnt want mine in the car unless going to the range. Unless I had a special secure console built for it or something. Ive only ever taken mine to the range and to hunting camp a few times. I usually carry the ammo with me and gun in trunk.

Sure. Unloaded long guns are ok to travel with all the time. Just make sure to keep the mag away from it, and you're good to go, in PA at least

For long guns, the LTCF applies only to Philly or states of emergency (which I believe might be currently in affect). Otherwise, the LTCF makes no difference for long guns.

Long guns must be unloaded in the car. Loaded mags are OK, but they can't be in the same container as the long gun, or if they are, a different compartment of the same container. You could have them in the glove box. You could have the rifle in a soft case and the loaded mags in pouches on the outside of the case or in pockets on the inside of the case.

I think. I am not a lawyer. Where the line is drawn I do not know. But it's certainly not drawn at loaded mags in the glove box.

No LTCF is needed to carry a long gun in a vehicle in PA, except in Philly and during a state of emergency.

However - you are NOT allowed to have a loaded long gun at any time in/on/upon a vehicle. The UFA's definition for "loaded" pretty much only applies to "firearms"(handguns, SBS, SBR) - but you can bet your house that a judge will use it since it is established for long guns.

If you will see above, the only regulations are having ammo in the chamber(s) and magazines. If the gun uses a DETACHABLE magazine, any mags suitable for the guns that are present must be in a separate container. If the gun uses a fixed mag, then it must be empty.

Loose or boxed ammo can be anywhere.

Thank's I do have a metal lock box mounted inside of the trunk of my car. When car is parked overnight I would take the Ar15 in at night.

Thats the way i roll, Shorty Ar15 and 4 loaded mags in a Tactical case in my trunk 24/7, mags seperate,chamber empty of course.

It is my get home gun, shtf gun wrol gun all in one.

You are perfectly legal, just keep the mags seperated from the gun itself.
