    Default Quality relating to Accuracy

I apologize if this is a dumb question, but any experience on how ammo quality relates to accuracy? I've gathered from the threads that low-quality ammo will generally have more duds and result in dirtier guns, but what I'm wondering is if cheap ammo will result in bad practice? I mean, we're generally talking about <25 yds here...

Say you have the best of the best gun, whatever you shoot, pretend you have the ultimate 9mm, .45, .40, whatever. If I spend a weekend and practice with 1000 rds of WWB or Independent instead of 1000 rds of Hornady, CorBon, etc, am I potentially cheating myself? Does practicing with Poo ammo unfairly downgrade your performance?

My belief is that if you are just plinking around and not shooting competition why spend the money on the expensive ammo. As long as you clean the barrel and action regularly the cheap ammo will not hurt your gun. Now as far as accuracy goes that is something you will have to expirement with compare cheap and expensive ammo at the same time to see what the difference is. Hope this was helpful.

There are alot of varibles in that statement. It depends on how accurate the powder charges are in the ammo you purchase, Most manufactors meet certian guidlines. What you have to figure out with less expensive ammo is how it works in your firearm. Some cheaper ammo is dirtier and some is not. This is just my opinion.

With a rifle, ammo matters a lot more when you're shooting long distance. Under 25 yards in a a general practice setting (not bullseye shooting), most shelf ammo is fine and can actually outshoot more expensive ammo in some cases.
