Maryland CCW?
It appears that I'm moving to Maryland sometime next year for work. After reviewing their PSP application process it appears that I might not be eligible for a carry permit there?
It appears that self defense is not a "good and substantial" reason to receive a permit... Does anyone have advice as to the process in MD?

Good luck. When Maryland says 'substantial', they really mean it. Join the Maryland Shooters website/forum. They've been on top of this for a long time. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

I moved up to PA from Maryland. You simply have no idea how fortunate you were living in PA when it comes to firearms. Maryland will let you buy them (after a wait) but OMG - you better be happy with taking them directly from your (MD) home to range and back to your home stored in the trunk of your ride - period!

Re: Maryland CCW?
I was born and raised in Maryland our family roots go back to pre-civil war, and in 1977 the Gun grabbers started, with the so called (Saturday Nite Specials) sorry to say and the gun grabbers won. Once the camal got its head in the tent it was over in Maryland, It's been down hill since.
The state at one time was a great place to live, Most of my family and friends have moved out of Maryland including ME!!! It was a sad time for us to go, but our safety comes first, but as you will see, you will now be living under, drum roll.......Socialism!!!! sorry to say3%er "The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.." -G. Re: Maryland CCW?
I moved to PA from MD in September but still live within a half mile of the MD border...
Basically, you wont be able to get a CCW until the Wollard case is out of the 4th circuit court with a decision.
I would suggest joining MD Shall Issue..... They will keep up up to date...

Re: Maryland CCW?
Thanks for the replies. I can't really avoid MD at this point, as a really great farming opportunity proximate to DC has come up.
I already looked @ the MSP page prior to posting, hence the reason for this post. I'll check out the Shall Issue website and I guess await the circuit courts decisions.
Now... the other question... can I get a PA non Resident then since I already have a resident PA LTCF?
PS. Can't I just get a Utah Non Resident?Last edited by tntblaster; December 29th, 2012 at 11:34 AM.

Re: Maryland CCW?
You can get a UT non-res as a MD resident or if you already have a PA LTC as a PA resident.
BTW-The 4th Circuit opinion shouldn't be that far off, although I expect MD to appeal if they lose. In all likelyhood, this will be settled at SCOTUS. Latest will be summer 2014.
If you have a great opportunity in MD I'd take it and try to hang on until you get help from the courts.

Re: Maryland CCW?
Nuts.. I must have been looking at wrong information somewhere.. According to http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/FAQother.html Maryland doesn't recognize... PA or Utah....
So I guess I await on court rulings...
