Rights are inherent. They don't come from a document.
The Constitution is a framework for a central government.

I understand the point. The scary thing is that it seems that a large number of people do not understand it.
...and they have a plan...

Great essay and all, but I'm reminded of what should be inherent rights that are already violated as they are not enumerated and the old enumerated vs. listed rights debate from before any of us were born. The Ninth Amendment is ignored enough already as it is. I would not depend on this argument.

Re: Repeal of the 2nd Amendment would not Abolish any Right
People who don't know their possible rights don't miss them when someone "Better" than them takes them away.
Ultimately people consider their rights to be what they can do without interference or disapproval from other people.
For example - in Nazi Germany Jews had to wear Stars of David on their clothing. The average German was either scared, approved or was indifferent.
In New York City people cower at night behind triple locked doors holding onto cave man weapons. The average New Yorker either accepts this, is indifferent or wants to avoid going to jail because people like Mike Bloomberg want it that way.
