Default Can an original Krag-Jorgensen rifle handle a 180 grain 30-40 cartridge?

The rifle is either from the the 1896 or 1898 production year. I read that they were originally designed for a 160 grain cartridge, but that they apparently have only one lug unlike the Danish model that has two, which I read may make a difference.

    Is 180 OK?

Hodgdon lists loads up to 220 gr for 30-40 Krag

After a brief experiment with a 230-grain bullet loading, the .30 Army loading was standardized in 1894 using a 220-grain metal jacketed round nose bullet with 40 grains of nitrocellulose powder.

My rifle was made in 1901.

I launch 220 copper jacketed and 220 lead round nose out of mine. Just keep the velocities (ie pressures) within spec.

Thanks! For some reason I had "160" stuck on my mind last night when I should have been thinking smarter at 220.
