    Default Century Arms C93

    Hi,

Just got one of these from Dunhams Sports for about $580. Comes with 2 40 round mags and a bayonet knife. In all honesty this is not the rifle I wanted, but it was the only semi-auto larger than a .22 I could find locally. I have a few questions if someone familiar with these could take a moment to answer.

    1. What kind of lube for the rails in the receiver that the bolt and carrier ride on? The manual is not specific and only mentions using a dry lube if the weapon is to be used in cold weather. I used RemOil when I put it back together after cleaning.

    2. Magazines. Are they interchangeable with anything else or are they specific to this particular weapon?

    3. Bolt gap. What is a acceptable measurement? I have not checked mine, but have read many posts on the internet saying they typically come with too little gap from Century. Where would I order oversize rollers if the gap is too small? How much difference does it actually make?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Not a bad price really.

As far as lube, I would use what ever you typically use for your rifles.

For the bolt gap, usually they are fine out of the package but tend to change after firing a few hundred rounds, so keep an eye on it even if ti's good out of the gate.

I had no idea what you were talking about, so Googled it.

I can't help with your questions, but the retailer where I got that pic from had them for sale for $530, so you did OK.

Man EM .. You can't find a bigger picture than that.

    The C93 is a HK 33 clone.

btw .. to the OP. I believe the mags are specific to this gun. They do have a version that will accept AR mags, but it has a specific lower with a custom mag well. Should mention, that I don't believe Century has any of the AR mag guns. You will have to modify your existing gun or buy one that was built for it.

Gap goes from new gun build of .020 to arsenal refurb time at .004.

In between you can use +2 and +4 rollers to "buy time".

Use the blade-type feeler guages you used to use way back when to adjust your valves and carby points.

Thanks for the link nfafan. I have somewhere between a .006 and .007 gap. I may order some oversize rollers to keep on hand.

    Thanks,
    Tim

Every nuance of the gun has been covered over at the HK forums - the concensus is that they are sound guns - just built horribly bad by Cent subs as opposed to the subs that did Cent's Yugos, Polskis, Sterlings.

They are sweet shooters, consider shooting it until your at .004 gap, then look for refs to "Ghilliebear" - he is an HK-smith that can rebuild your C93 to perfection. Not cheap, but he knows his shiite around vorgrimmlers.

You will then have a 922-legal HK33 done right. Have fun!
