Default Hunting Camp goes NRA/SAF members only

I've been "threatening" to do this for a couple of years now. The time has finally come. I know some of you have issues with one or both organizations. I am ok with that. To each his own.

I have quite a few friends that are neither NRA or SAF members. A couple of them are not even registered to vote. So, when the conversation turns to gun rights, or politics in general I have a very hard time even talking to them, let alone keeping my cool.

I have a very comfortable hunting camp in Monroe county. It doubles as a vacation home. I invite as many family members and friends up as i can. We always have a great time, whether we harvest an animal or not. We try to hunt every season there is, so we spend as much time during the year as possible enjoying our passion. I just put everyone on notice that as of today, hunting camp will be for NRA/SAF members only. Each season i have asked the non members to consider joining. I've even put a holder on the table with NRA applications in it. Always the same lip service "yea, i know i should be a member....yada yada yada."

I've had enough, join the fight or go find another camp to hunt out of.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Your camp your rules. I have no issue with this, if I owned a camp I'd do the same.

That's fine but they could just give you the money to donate for them and they would not have to be a "member" if they did not want to. No difference if they are a member or not.

If I had a hunting camp, I've have the exact same rules. I think it's time that more gun clubs start requiring NRA/SAF membership.

A-5, that is a point worth considering at "camp". Accepting donations toward NRA/SAF instead of a required membership.

Of course the required donation would be twice the lowest membership rate.

    Your camp, your rules..

However, not every person want to join an organization. You should have exemption for those who donate to such organizations or actively participate in grassroots or individual efforts.

I will not join any organization, but I actively write and call elected officials on things.

    GOOD JOB!

It is time people learn to get involved. Even if it 25$ for membership.

Make the CAMP NRA or FOAC or SAF!!!

Do it and don't look back!!! Give them the choice of ORG and make sure they follow through.

    Why not include GOA memberships?
