    Default Ranges in York ?

Anybody know of a good outdoor range in the York area. Already got an indoor range 6 miles from the house, but would like to join an outdoor one also. Thanks for any info.

    Hi tes151,

I live in York also, and I just visited a great outdoor range for the first time on Saturday. It's called West Shore Sportsman's Association in Lewisberry. It's only 25 minutes up Rt. 83. They have 10 outdoor ranges... handguns, rifles, etc. Great facilities, and nice people.

I just submitted my membership application. It's $55/year (plus $10 initiation fee), and it's open every day 8am to sunset. Here are their websites:

    http://www.skywardthought.com/westsh...site/index.php

    http://www.westshoresportsmen.org/

For more info, talk to FRISteve here on PAFOA. He's the one who gave me a tour on Saturday.

I'm looking forward to my first trip as a member.

    Chris

North on 74 just past Rossville is the Isack Walton League Range. Free, rifle and pistol ranges. Not formal, but free.

    www.acsha.com

It's about 50minutes from York, but we do have monthly Action Shoots May-Oct on Sundays. I will be posting the date son here as soon as the 2007 schedule is finished.

We are also going to start having Bowling Pin Shoots.

The map on the site is horrible, use the address and Yahoo Maps or Mapquest to get directions.

Or Pm me and I'll give them to you. If anyone is interested in a tour of the facility, PM me.

Looks like a nice place, but a little far from the house, plus being a truck driver I probably would not be able to make a meeting during the week to get membership. Thanks for the info though.

You don't have to make a meeting for membership. You can also come to one of the club functions, like the Action Shoots. Or a club officer (such as my self) can meet you there and give you a tour.

But I understand it is far away. You should try the free one on 74 towards Dillsburg. It is near Pinchot Park. I don't know the name.

I'll second the West Shore suggestion. Bunch of ranges, including many speed bays, where you are by yourself (none of the wait for a ceasefire to change a target or no drawing from a holster or no movement while shooting) and can do what you like, as long as you are safe.

We also have an indoor range on the property.

IDPA (plus CMP, Cowboy, AirGun, trap, etc) is shot monthly and IDPA also meets EVERY Thursday night indoors for practice sessions.
