Question i have a serious question please help about ak with no serial number

I just inherited an Ak 47 from a family members death. I have a pretty good knowledge about pistol but this is my first AK or rifle for that matter.

The question I have is that the receiver has no markings on it what so ever. So it it leagal to own first off, from all ive been told he built the Ak from some sort of kit.

If it is legal can I sell it? If I decide to one day.

Any other infornmation you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you all
    Brian

Probably bent up the receiver himself from a Flat, then didn't stamp a serial number on it.

Don't you want to keep it???

If it really disturbs you. hacksaw the receiver in 3 places and sell it as a Parts Kit on the internet.

you can keep it, but you can't sell it. take it out, shoot it, have fun with it. if you ever want to sell it, buy a receiver from nodak, swap them and sell it, or like stated, cut it and sell as a kit.

Curious about the sale of said rifle. TF, I dont doubt you, just wondering why not since there is no registration in PA and long gun transfers dont even need to go through an FFL. Thanks for any insight.

There is no issue with owning or selling a gun that never had a serial number. The problems start when a serial number is removed or defaced.

    This is correct.

OP, sounds like you got a homemade AK that was built from a flat and a demilled parts kit, so you should be fine.
