Default Magazine (or "AW") Restrictions: The Backlash will be Shocking

Magazine (or "AW") Restrictions: The Backlash will be Shocking

I received this and changed some parts:

Here is some helpful political information about magazine restrictions. The outcry you hear from gun owners right now is nothing next to the backlash that will happen if restrictions are signed into law.

Neither you nor the gun owners themselves know how powerful the backlash will be, and here’s why.

You might look at ban states like CA, NJ. You might look at the results of the 1994 ban. Well, it’s not 1994 anymore.

    - {I have heard estimates from 25 million to 50 million} rifles owned by US citizens are “Assault Weapon” type rifles.
    - The AR-15 has been the most popular gun of any kind year over year according to ATF.

    And, most importantly,

    - The majority of handguns purchased by US Citizens are semiautos with magazines over 10 rounds.

Conclusion: The majority of firearms owned by US citizens use magazines over 10 rounds. No, it’s not 1994 anymore.

Nope, not even most of the gun owners themselves have come to realize what this would mean. This will be the most monumental political disaster in US history. It will affect the majority of gun owners and most Republican voters. And nobody realizes it yet.

Actually, enforcing the legislation is going to be a HUGE problem (e.g. compliance).

And that might be what saves standard-capacity magazines and scary-looking black rifles.

As you pointed out, 11+-round magazines are the norm in pistols. Try going to a gun store in Pennsylvania or other free state and buying a compact or service size pistol that comes with a 10-round mag or smaller. From a self-defense perspective, standard capacity magazines are viewed as necessary.

Given the Heller decision and its affirmation that self-defense is a legitimate purpose for citizens under the Second Amendment, a magazine capacity restriction should be out the window, or at the very least, that limitation would have to be in the 15-20-round ballpark, which would be pointless in the minds of an anti. It's only acceptable to them to kill 10 people before a reload.

As far as scary-looking black rifles (trying not to use the imaginary "A" word), the prevalence in society now for target shooting should render them lawful for sporting purposes. The vast majority of scary-looking black rifle owners aren't forming militias, they're shooting up targets on weekends. And while even Congress might fall victim to emotional constipation, it should be an open-and-shut case in courts that scary-looking black rifles aren't the oddball weapons that they used to be.

from what ive gathered as well lots of places are using ar-15s for feral hog eradication where the extra magazine capacity comes in handy. I also have read that alot of those kills go to soup kitchesn and the like. not sure of the authenticity of that statement though.

The AR is the favorite rifle for hunting coyote in states where it is legal.

Gun owners are also much more informed and aware these days with the internet. From what I understand in 94 most people were in the dark about the ban until it passed.

This and also that it seems a smaller percentage of people were AR/AK owners at the time, whereas now it's just as common as owning any other rifle.

This is why they get away with their bullshit. They have the advantage, the power. We fall in line like good sheep and don't question the shepherd.

A lot of good points here but lets stay focused and not become complacent. Things have changed, on both sides. The communists have learned from their failures and on the heels of the election they believe they have a majority to destroy our freedoms and liberty.
