Default How (il)legal is this? (shotgun mounted to AR)

I was doing a google images search for "870 Express" and came across this pic...

Which got me thinking, "I wonder if this is legal?"
I vaguely remember hearing a while back that a secondary attachment on my AR has to be of the non-lethal variety. Is there any truth to that?

    Ok, thanks everyone.
Note - I don't plan to do this, I was jsut curious since I stumbled across the picture and it got me thinking to my early days with my AR, pondering the M203. I had thought it foolish to go with the 203 when U can use a 12ga.

So there's no issue with the secondary weapon attached to the AR being "lethal"?

    lol flare launcher,,,,

Need a 40mm and some of these

This 40mm adapter is capable of firing (18) 22 caliber bullets at once from your 40mm weapon.

A pistol primer is pressed into the bottom of the adapter. When the weapon is fired, this primer actuates firing pins inside the adapter that shoots off the (18) caliber bullets all at once!
