    Default 1911 MSH in Philly?

Does anyone know where I can buy a new MSH in Philadelphia?

I was stripping my 1911 just to get the lint and collection of gunk out of there and the Polymer MSH that I have broke where the retaining pin sits when I was putting it back together. Consequently, when that broke, the pin shot off into the nether.

    Any help?

Midwayusa will have you one in two days. I have a few polymer housings laying around for free, but that will take over a week since I'm booked all to ^%$.

Well, actually now I just need a store near here in general that sells 1911 parts. Grip safety got stuck and in my efforts to free it, it snapped. I'd like to not wait for shipping and such with it being so close to the holidays.

    SA Lightweight Champ Operator.

I'm going to call SA tomorrow to see if I can't get CS to fix everything. I don't want to pay a smith to fit a new grip safety for me, so I'd rather ship it to Springfield and let them fix it up and get me the new MSH and grip.

If you are shipping that pistol to Springfield Armory you should take a very careful look at the customization options you can have done to it while it is out there. It's one of the top five 1911 shops in the Country. Checkered front strap maybe? Don't let the opportunity pass you by.

Call Lock's Gun Shop in NE Philly. If you want to travel a little - call EGW in Quakertown, PA.

You broke the MSH at the retaining pin and snapped the grip safety.
What size sledge hammer were you using to install those parts?

Haha it wasn't a sledge hammer. I don't know what it's called, but the part of the grip safety that comes in contact with the leaf got snagged on something and in my efforts to move it, it snapped. I didn't think I was using a lot of force to try and free it, I did it with a small punch that I use to remove the pins.

Also, with the MSH, I literally did nothing but remove the pin, but towards the end of the pin, the pressure from the spring caused it to snap the small amount of plastic that contains the edge of the pin.

I just got off the phone with Springfield CS, which was a much shorter convo than I thought it would be. Told the woman on the phone my problem, she explained that since it is an issue with the safety, they couldn't send out the part but would get me an overnight box asap. I mentioned my MSH issue as well and she told me to write a note when I send it in and they should take care of it. I always read about SA's great CS dept. so I'll experience it first hand. From what I hear, most people get their gun back in a week or two, we'll see since it's the holidays and all.
