Ar-15 Optics
Lets see those optics setups people have on their "evil black rifles". I would post mine, but I haven't gotten my Ar-15 yet (hopefully once that tax refund check comes). I'm particularly interested in various optics mounted on carrying handles.

Re: Ar-15 Optics
My SPR wears a Leupold MkIV, 3.5-10, 40mm, M3, illuminated mil-dot reticle. Mount is the SPR mount from LaRue. Very solid, return to zero throw lever mount.
Aimpoint on my carbine. Gonna ditch the aimpoint mount for a LaRue at some point.

Re: Ar-15 Optics
I like this setup alot. I'm still not sure if I want to get a flat top upper with flip-up sights, or one with a carrying handle. I will probably shoot mine for a while with iron sights, as the rifle itself will break the bank for a little while. How do you like your flip-up sights?

Re: Ar-15 Optics
All of these pics make it hard to wait on buying my AR. How do you guys like your Aimpoint optics? What do the different measurements mean (30mm, 40mm, etc)? I am looking on cheaperthandirt.com and this is how they are separated.

Re: Ar-15 Optics
I like my aimpoint a lot. pretty simple and rugged.
I'd recommend getting the flat top. the issue with mounting optics on the carry handle is that the site is too high too get a proper cheek weld. You can always add a carry handle rear sight. With a fixed carry handle upper you're pretty much stuck with it.

Re: Ar-15 Optics
Definitely go with a flat top upper and get yourself a set of flip up sites for backup. The Bushy on top has a 4x Colt scope on the carry handle that I'm not real fond of. I much prefer the flat top with a good Leupold atop.
