let's sue philadelphia
Hello all, I was just thinking after reading so many post about people harmed by philadelphia and their corrupt ways. why don't those of us harmed sign a petition then all of us contribute to our own legal defense, find a lawyer willing to take us all on as a single client? We should be able to round up quite a retainer & SUE!! imagine 1,000 of us give 250 dollars each to sue Philadelphia, the Mayor, Charles Ramsey, the GPU, City counsil. Let's take our rights back!! We have enough opinions now let's take action. who's with me? we can start to iron out the details & get organized and by summer we should be a well oiled machine. Re: let's sue philadelphia
You aren't being clear, as to what it is you wanna sue for. General corruption? Gotta be more specific. I mean, LTCF issues are significant. Cops harassing OCers is significant (see viper). Passing laws in defiance of preemption. Their gun control unit seems to be completely corrupt. Unfair denials, takes too long (45 business days), refusing to accept applications, requiring additionals papers/info not in the UFA.
Want a successful lawsuit? Form a class of people who's suffered from 1 such violation, or multiple from the same source (gpu).Iconoclastic Individual Specimen

Re: let's sue philadelphia
We could sue them for everything related to the UFA! that includes everything you listed as well. The list of what the specifics are can be worked out by all of us & the lawyers willing to take the case.

Re: let's sue philadelphia
I'm not a lawyer, but I believe we would need a specific class on a specific issue. Not a blanket issue. We might be better off lobbying and finding a "friend" on council to push our issues in City Council who would watchdog the permit unit. Or to lobby the state to sue philadelphia on preemption, which is specifically disallowed by the state law.

Re: let's sue philadelphia
Everything i mentioned is a specific reason. there are just more than one & every reason can & should be mentioned in said lawsuit. that is why i said we could work out the details.

That doesn't address the points raised.

Re: let's sue philadelphia
Because lawyers cost money. If you have a significant chance of getting a large judgement, they may take a case on for a portion of that judgement. If they don't expect such a judgement, then they need to get paid.
Since there aren't any lawyers here trolling for plaintiffs to add to a class, we can safely assume that a case like this would require cash up front.
