    Default Help in 2B area.

Having issues finding where to go hunting. I was in the Military for 21 yrs and finally got me full retirement papers this year. Moved back here a couple of yrs ago. I have asked numerous hunters where to go around this area. Been told to go to areas that are not worth it. Grew up in the area but gone for so long, getting a little discouraged about hunting. I am not asking to sit by anyone, just some info where I might be able to get something. Did not get anything this season. Just looking for some help. So much is posted or you just can't get into it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try SGL 296 trouble is its in 2A (not 2B), public hunting spots in 2B are tough to find in westmoreland county.

Lots of rude / bad hunter (so called sportmen's) has caused much private property to be posted & not even let anyone new hunt that land anymore because of these slobs

I agree with rude hunters, have heard more stories about them screwing it up for everyone else. Usually it is them that bitch about hunting areas.

I asked this same question last year. A few folks answered by posting these links:

    http://pittsburgh.about.com/od/hunting/a/hunters.htm

    http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pitt.../s_773541.html

They don't specifically give out any locations, but give you some resources to check.

One of those resources is the Allegheny Land Trust. They have properties open to hunting listed on their website:

    http://www.alleghenylandtrust.org/ab...ing/index.html

Some of those are limited to archery only.

The only other place I've found so far is along Camp Hollow Road in West Mifflin, down the road from Anthony Arms. There are signs for land for sale, you can't miss it. I've only hunted there once, and it was pretty crowded. Good luck with your search.

talk to people you know, friends, neighbors, someone is bound to know someone who may have a little piece of property to hunt. might be archery only though. 2b is tough, more people and even more posted ground.
