Oaks Gun Show. Get ready for the zip ties! :-)
So with the December Oaks Gun show coming up pretty soon, I'm getting really excited.
It seems very strange to me though that a GUN show doesn't want its patrons to exercise their right to defend themselves. I know it mainly has to do with the owners of the expo center and not necessarily the promoters, but at the same time, I wish I didn't have to disarm.
Any thoughts or past experiences? Anyone brought in a CCed gun and asked to leave?

I love the show. Yes they ask you to unload your weapon when you walk in, but they let you reholster it (after putting a zip tie through the barrel) and i do not mind. It is a very quick process, non carriers go through one line, people carrying to through another line and show your gun is clear, then you walk through.
As far as the show goes its big, I think prices are fair, and the selection is quite extensive. I havent missed an oaks gun show in the past 10 months and from what i hear the december show is the biggest/ most packed.
Cant wait! I am confident I will find a used revolver for under 300 that is to my liking. Hope you make it out.

Lol, you're absolutely right. I'm sorry if I have awaken the sleeping giant that everyone is tired of hearing about. It just seemed like the forum hit a bit of a lull these last few weeks, so I thought bringing back a "good" topic might make for a good conversation.
Hey, at least I didn't bring up the "CC vs. OC" debate or "One-in-the-chamber" talk. :-)

Re: Oaks Gun Show. Get ready for the zip ties! :-)
Normal life of a popular thread on PAFOA:
- OP posts
- Some small number of people post something either complimentary or constructively useful
- Some people post something very hostile or insulting
- The OP and one or two others try to defend their position
- More people post stuff that is hostile
- The OP and/or others get hostile back
- An all-out war ensues
- Eventually the OP says he's taking his ball and going home
- The argument moves off topic
- More hostility ensues
- It moves even more off topic
- Someone posts "this thread is dead"
- A few people still fight while thread dies a slow and painful death
- Thread finally dies
- 3 more posts just like it are born somewhere else on the forum

Re: Oaks Gun Show. Get ready for the zip ties! :-)
I'll bite on this one
Carrying to a gun show just to have it zip tied is basically just to show off the gun. Hey, that's ok, its is a GUN show after all! I would take the zip tie. If I cant show my Sig to fellow gun guys then something is wrong.
I suppose you COULD carry concealed and go through the non carriers line, but you do that at the risk of being asked to leave (at the minimum)Last edited by Nucking Futs; December 8th, 2012 at 03:33 PM.

Personally, I find it insulting that they think it necessary to post two police officers at the entrance. It indicates that trouble is expected. I'd like to know the real $$$ reasons (might be insurance considerations, might be the attitude of the leaders in that entity).
I'd like to know how two cops out in the entrance is going to prevent anything. They'll just have a head start on getting there.
There was an attendee trying to sell a nice K Masterpiece there. You couldn't even check the timing with that %%^&*ing strap thru it. Meanwhile people buy a pistol, ammo, placed together in a bag by the dealer with no strap, resulting in two kinds of guns....strappers and no-strappers. Enter and carry unstrapped and you have a situation. Buy a gun without a strap, no problem. DUHHHH
