SDVE Smith and Wesson
I've heard some bad things about the earlier model of this pistol, the sigma series. Anybody have one of these and is willing to shed some light on it? I don't know anyone that has one and would like some reviews if possible...

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
I don't own one, but I have shot plenty of them. My review is I would not consider owning one unless it was given to me.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
My buddies father just got ione basically free, we shot it last weekend and it wasn't as bad as I heard. The trigger is heavy as hell but it fired well; we didn't put any more than 100 rounds through it but it was better than expected, I wouldn't buy one unless I got the deal he got...
For just about the same price you can have a Ruger SR9/40

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
OK, I got one. (9mm)
It sucks!!
But, it was cheap. It never gave me any trouble (other than it SUCKS)
Here's my review....
It sucks.
OK seriously,,,, I got mine due to price and upon range time I find the trigger way too long and stiff. I hate shooting it. My teenage boy hates shooting it. My wife hates shooting it. (even though she usually likes it long and stiff)
It is hard to stay on target with the stiff pull. The gun may be OK for self-defense due to the long pull, but I ain't messing with training on that gun.
It sits next to the bed as a backup now.
My opinion,,, save a little extra and just buy a BETTER gun.
It sucks.
PS: I also have the Ruger SR9C and it is a lot better. (it doesn't suck)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mK2JYfZAmA When will America become America?

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
I've had one for about 10 years now. It has never failed to fire or feed no matter what the ammo I used. The trigger is my only gripe, its heavy. I did the trigger job to it and it was much better. I have since put it back to stock and keep it loaded in a night stand. Its no target pistol thats for sure, but it shoots every time I pull the trigger and it stays on target.
Your web muscles do not frighten me.

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
I know quite a few people (some of them being couch potato, LEO formers) that have these guns and the issues are all the same. It shoots, but the trigger is junk, and the fit is like the worst Glock you can imagine. My perception of it is spot on to what everyone else says. These were pretty popular with some LEO back in the day.

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
I didn't think the fit was that bad, I felt it was between a Glock and an M&P.

Re: SDVE Smith and Wesson
I have on for my main carry piece. My only gripe with this gun is the ever common trigger issue. It is long and it is hard, but I can still manage to get a decent group at 25 yards with this gun. Besides the trigger I like everything else about it. The only issue I had was a FTE after firing approx 400 rounds of dirty steel case ammo through it without cleaning. I f you can find one sub 300 I would say go for it.
