Re: Why no semi-autos for hunting?
I think its all about fair chase not throwing as much lead as you can. It's kind of like using a crossbow in bow season no challenge.

Re: Why no semi-autos for hunting?
ok. this horse is long dead and gone, so im going to lay off of it after this, but a large portion of this thread has been dedicated to explaining that just because you have a semi auto rifle, DOES NOT mean that you are going to just go off and "throw as much lead as you can" towards your target. It is this mentality (of a perceived disregard for safety and sport by semi auto owners) that anti's feed off of. If you are at all accurate with your weapon, it will only take one bullet, no matter what kind of gun you are using.
additionally
i think that most guys that would use a semi auto would be perfectly willing to use a 3 rd mag in their semiauto weapon. there is so much more i could say, but im going to leave it go at that

In my humble opinion, I think this thread should be locked down and no more posts allowed. I think it saw its light, for lack of better words and should be left to rest in the archives.

Bill, Speaking as I do here, I Moderate in a small forum and I used to Moderate in other places as well. I have experience when it comes to such things and I do believe Sir that this thread went on far too long. I think it could have been a good subject, not a debacle like it turned out to be. I personally would have nipped this thread a while back. I also was a Sgt. in the service as well, I got a good eye for things going badly.

Agreed, this is a dead horse by now.
Hopefully one day we might be able to have a similar debate with some more civility and a lot less childishness.
