    Default What actually constitutes "printing?"

As a new concealed carrier, I'm wondering what actually constitutes printing, and how much I really need to worry about it?

When I move certain ways, my Ruger SR9's butt pokes out slightly when I carry in a 3:330-4 o'clock position (the most comfortable position for me.) It's VERY slight and partially covered by my arm. Do I need to try and fix this? You'd really have to be looking for something to notice, I mean REALLY have to be looking.

There is no law against printing in PA. There is also no law against Open Carry.

During the winter (meteorological), I neither conceal nor open carry. I carry outside waistband up front with my primary sidearm. My coat is unzipped and it's usually poking out trying to get some air. Sometimes it's covered, sometimes it's entirely exposed, but usually poking.

During the Spring, Summer, and Fall, it's completely exposed for all to see.

It depends on who you ask. Some of the guys on here will say any hint of a outline of your firearm would constitute printing. I take the opposite approach. I could give a shit less if i print. In the summer i wear a kimber ultra carry 2 in a OWB holster or a sig sauer 2022 OWB. The both print like crazy but i have never had a single comment or funny look. Most people are to caught up in their own things to notice.

I roll with a service pistol as my conceal carry, and could care less about printing. It ain't against the law, and thus far noone has even noticed. At least not enough to say anything to me. But then, I've found that people aren't actually all that observant.

    It's a cell phone.

That's what the mind of a non-gun owner processes when it sees that shape.

Cell phones have made concealed carry "printing" concerns mostly a thing of the past.

Too bad it wasn't the other way around though...

Since you're new to carrying, you'll find yourself being real self conscious about it. You think that everyone can see it. After a while, you'll find that isn't true at all, and you'll just consider that it's part of everything else that you carry, cell phone, keys, knife wallet. Don't worry about it.

You carry a knife wallet? What the hell is that, and where can I get one?
