Default I just joined the NRA.

I said I wouldn't ever do it, because they use scare tactics to drum up support. Well, guess what? So does everyone in the anti crowd. Fight fire with fire. I've considered this for a long time, and while I personally don't like the scare tactics, I understand it's got to be a level playing field. I'm not wealthy, but I didn't want just a 1 year, so I did the EPL Life Membership. I can sacrifice $25 a month for 40 months. I'm glad I did it.

I would join the NRA if they didn't use the same level of scare tactics as the anti-gun organizations. I just don't believe the best way to convince people of the safety of an armed populace is to scare the heck out of said populace.

Besides, I never really liked Charlten Heston as an actor....he had ugly teeth.

If you want to save money and just want to join the NRA to add to their numbers, get a little insurance ($2500) and don't care about the hat or magazine or voting, then you can just get an associate membership for $10/yr. Some ranges require an NRA membership so this is an economical way to do this, especially if you need to sign your whole family up. Just click on the second tab at the signup screen (Junior, Distinguished and Other Memberships)

I understand the hesitation of some to join the NRA, but ultimately I think it is a good decision. Sadly, they do use some tactics that I don't agree with, but as others said, so do the anti's.

While I don't agree with everything they do, or how they do it, they are our best ally when it comes to keeping our 2A rights. Think of where things would be now if they didn't exist.

I called & told them to remove me from their solicitation list, and told them I thought that it was a waste of my dues. They were polite & I haven't received any more calls or junk mail.

I'm a member of the NRA and saf and a bunch of other pro gun groups but the one I support most is saf, they don't waste my money on useless crap and they've done more so far than the NRA, they have plenty of cases pending in a few states regarding the right to carry outside of ones home
