Thumbs up Colt 1911 .45 shock buffer probs

I sometimes shoot a Colt 45 1911 and usually keep a 1/10" rubber shock buffer on the recoil spring guide.

I clean my guns in my std Dunk-it solution made for polymer guns and have lately found the rubber shock buffs seem to wear out too fast.

I was wondering if any of you guys A. use a shock buffer
    B. use Dunk-it solution and
    C. if anyone has a recommendation on a better shock buffer to use w Dunk-it

I guess I am a bit lazy but I've got so used to the great job Dunk-it does on all my other guns that I hate to mess with taking the .45 apart each time I shoot it!.

I am sure you know that a shok buff will wear very quickly if your recoil spring is shot.

I have to agree with the above post, I'd field strip and remove the buff before the dunk.

If you use this as your carry gun, I'd eliminate the shock-buff altogether. They have a habit of deteriorating at the most inopportune times.

    Just a thought.

Take it out. It will go bad fast enough just shooting it. If not, just buy a bunch of them, they are cheap. Replace when needed. As far as cleaning a gun after every time I shoot it...not, it ain't happening. I swab and oil the barrel after every trip, but that is it.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.
