That's right. Nothing against Jay, don't mean to hijack this thread, but John's comments pissed me off. I took 7 days of training last year, and every single student I met, including you, had a genuine interest in learning what the instructors had to offer. "Most men come to a training course with the idea that they are going to show the instructor how super-awesome they are." As far as I'm concerned, that's B.S.

Since when does training courses offer return live fire, such as you referenced to hunting?
    arjohnson,

I never said that training courses offer return live fire. Obviously they do not - nobody is dumb enough to do a force-on-force live fire training course.

    At least I hope not.

There are however options - force-on-force simunitions and airsoft training can be very effective in increasing one's perceptual awareness when dealing with a tactical situation.

Be that as it may, the mindset from being in a hunting situation and being in a tactical situation (when another human is intending to put you or another person in risk of death or serious bodily injury) are nowhere even remotely similar.

    That was my point.

Way to insult your prospective students, "bro".
    scruff,

I don't know you, so I don't know your level of training. If you've been to a few courses, I don't doubt for a second that you've seen egos from different instructors over the years. There are certainly some out there who have attitudes and egos. No doubt about that at all.

I don't. Neither does Jay - which is why I don't hesitate to endorse and recommend him to anyone.

As far as your "bro" comment to me, that was directed specifically to Jay, whom I've known for a while and I highly doubt was offended by it.

    No, I really didn't.

What I said - and I think my meaning was pretty obvious - is that shooting at a deer and shooting at a human being intent on doing you harm are not the same thing.

It's pretty obvious what I meant.

I'll delete my post as I don't want to shit on your thread because of someone else.

I resent your attitude that most of us students are egotistical little shits that need to "get over ourselves." Having taken classes with dozens of people last year, many of them from this forum, I haven't seen any of that. After all, why would someone spend a day or two, or three, and hundreds of dollars on tuition and hundreds more for ammo, if they didn't want to be there to learn? It's that holier-than-thou attitude directed at us that I find insulting.

Sorry, end of thread derail. My apologies, Jay, I meant no disrespect to you. The class of yours I took last year was good, with a fine bunch of instructors and students, as were the classes I took with other organizations.
