misdemeanor
Need some help.
I`m moving from commy New Jersey to Sterling Pa. I was arrested back in1970 on robbery and burgalery charges and pleaded guilty to trespassing. I need to know the best way to move and protect the guns I do own. Any help from a legal beagle?
Thanks

Re: misdemeanor
Did you buy them at a dealer?
Did you have any problems when you went through the background check?
If not, you don't have a thing to worry about...

Re: misdemeanor
Others on here would know better, like that big Gorilla, but I don't think that is a barring offense. Apply for a License To Carry Fierarms and see what the outcome is. Best wishes.
Be safe.

Re: misdemeanor
If you were convicted in 1970, and bought the guns in 99, I can't see any problems. Stick em in your trunk (without any ammo in trunk) and go!

Re: misdemeanor
If you're concerned about it because of the paperwork involved in re-regestering your guns when you move, that's no cause for concern, you don't need to register your guns in Pa.
The information that you want to look at can be found here:
http://members.aol.com/StatutesP2/18.Cp.61A.html
Specifically this:
http://members.aol.com/StatutesP7/18PA6111.4.html
§ 6111.4. Registration of firearms.
Notwithstanding any section of this chapter to the contrary, nothing in this chapter shall be construed to allow any government or law enforcement agency or any agent thereof to create, maintain or operate any registry of firearm ownership within this Commonwealth. For the purposes of this section only, the term "firearm" shall include any weapon that is designed to or may readily be converted to expel any projectile by the action of an explosive or the frame or receiver of any such weapon.
Was that your concern?

Re: misdemeanor
I would not worry about it I moved here 5 years ago and got my LTCF. I came from Ct. and I have a breach of peace and 3rd assault on my record from 1987. The main thing is do not lie on your paperwork when making a purchase or applying for your LTCF. Also with recent laws that have passed, expunged records are not to be used to prevent you from purchase or posession if you are legally allowed to do so. If it does show up you are able to have it removed and Sue for damages.

Re: misdemeanor
There are alot of states where assault and the like aren't penalized as harshly as here in Pa, i.e. maybe his was only punishable by a max of 1 year, where here in pa it would be 5 yrs.
With the variance in gradings between states, you can quite easily be legal to own, purchase, etc if you crime was comitted and punished in some other state, as opposed to if it was here in pa.

Re: misdemeanor
To All
After the trespassing guilty plea I was given an unconditional discharge no fine, no probation, no nothing. I walked out the door.
Thanks
