Default Possibly moving to PA from AZ -- questions.

Greetings. From everything I've read, I believe that OC is allowed, AK's are allowed (I refer to them as "semi automatic pattern rifles", not "assault weapons"), and a CCW can be obtained. All with caveats, of course.

What I cant tell is if you can shoot outdoors or not?

Here, we can go out in the desert, and as long as you're a mile or more away from a structure you're good (common courtesy is to have a hill to shoot into of course).

I love shooting outside during our good months (your bad months), and hate the thought of being confined to a range.

    Thanks!

Confined to a range, in Pennsylvania? Hah! I use an old mine site about a mile from anyone. Yes, I use a hill as a backstop.

Tomorrow is a state holiday, the first day of buck season. Right now the hills are alive with gunfire as people sight in their rifles.

Of course, depending on what political subdivision (township or borough) you settle in, firearms discharge may be prohibited (generally in the more heavily populated political subdivisions.

Depends on where in PA you are moving. If it's anywhere near a major city like Pittsburgh or Philly, you'll probably need to join a club.

We don't have wide open tracks of "desert" in PA. Most of PA is forested and hilly. Many rural area's are either game lands, posted, or inaccessible by vehicle. I'm sure there are area's in PA to meet your needs, you just got to find them.
    Toujours prêt

I would obtain an AZ concealed weapons permit before you move. It is good in many states. You can get fingerprinted at any fingerprint agency. Almost as good as Florida for reciprocity.

I have one, and was reading about the reciprocity last night after posting this.

    Thanks.

It's worth noting that neither a Pennsylvania LTCF nor an Arizona CWP is recognized in Ohio. A bigger consideration if you move to the western part of the Commonwealth.

AZ gives you NV unlike FL so if you want to go to sin city, get AZ.
