Henry rifles

What is your experience with a Henry? I was checking one out at Gander Mt. the other day in 357 magnum and thought it was a pretty damn neat rifle.

I have a Henry in 45 Long Colt, its accurate for the round at 50 yards. But it fumbles a bit ejecting the last cartridge fired.

I could never get past the outrageous prices they want for them for what they are, they shouldn't cost that much.

I agree the Henry's are kinda pricey, especially the Golden Boys.....but they shoot real nice and sure are pretty! Customer service after purchase is excellent also.

I like the co. and I think the .22s are neat and fairly priced.

But I guess in .357 I'd also be looking at a Marlin 1894C...

I got one of the .22s a few weeks ago, and it's my new favorite toy.

The problem is that lever guns are just expensive to manufacture compared to other actions. More moving parts and whatnot.

Having said that, the price tags on their handgun caliber rifles is a bit high.

I've got the .22LR Golden Boy and the 44 Mag. Big Boy. Both are excellent rifles. They feel good in your hands, balance very well, and are accurate. In my opinion this is a fantastic rifle. If you get one you will like it.

Pricey? Yes they are. However, after firing a few rounds out of one some of the price sting goes away.

understand that pistol caliber lever guns are not cheap no matter who makes them.

But if you subscribe to the "foil hat notion" fretting over SHTF guns, a revolver and lever-gun in the same caliber makes a ton of sense in the "one caliber to stock doomsday scenario".

I own the Marlin lever gun in .357Mag/.38Spl. and the Henry .22 lever gun.

I love them both.

They are both great shooters, well made and accurate.

Having said that, I am currently in the market for a lever gun in .44Mag/44spl.

I will likely go with the the Marlin 1894.

You decide what's best for you.

I have a henry survival rifle and it works great. I had a problem with the butt cap at the end of the stock that holds the parts in the stock when the gun is broken down. It split and wouldn't stay on. I e-mailed henry and in two days I got a new one in the mail no questions asked.
