Pointers on reloading Glock?

I am 6 ft 4 and have pretty big hands. I use a glock 23, and I still cant get my thumb to reach that mag button. I have not jumped on that extended mag button yet, but I am about to.

Am I missing something? Is there anyway to reach that stock button without breaking shooting grip?

The extended button is just farther out......you'll still have to break your grip somewhat.


The good news is that it shouldn't slow you down at all.

This isn't my Glock, but I still have to rotate my grip.

Also recomment the extended slide release,after install ( easy) I found with my grip to tweak it down just a bit with a dremel and is perfectly placed with my grip,I also did the extended slide release,Total cost for parts $30 total time to install everything 20 minutes.Highly recommend these two improvements,good luck.

Are you holding the gun properly?? I'm 5'9" with a decent sized mitt and my thumb extends over the trigger in my shooting grip. at 6'4" your hand should easily be able to manipulate the weapon.

I'm at work so these are simply of an aluminum replica I have at my desk but it is of a G17...





There are some magazine releases that do extend to the rear though to answer your questionm, but they are big and in my opinion just lend themselves to digging into my support hand when I use a two-handed grip.

I don't think you need to worry about this. I don't think you will ever have a need to do a reload without changing your grip for a split second. If I am wrong, then just by a better-designed pistol, or rather one that you are able to manipulate properly.

I consider it a good thing to have to break/shift my grip to drop the magazine. The last thing I want in a gunfight is to dump the magazine by accident.

Some folks use the thumb of their left hand to push the mag release. Some might argue that this approach is slower, and perhaps for them it would be, but it's not slower for the person who fumbles around because they can't reach the mag release button with their right thumb.

This is where I'm at. Break my grip and place my right thumb on the release, left thumb over my right thumb, and push down with both. Right thumb keeps the release held down while my left hand strips the mag out and goes for the fresh mag. It's a security over speed approach, but it works for me.

Are you trying to push down on the magazine release, or in towards the frame?

Also, the glock magazines should drop free once the magazine release is pressed.

There are a ton of factory mags that don't drop free.
