Default Looking for some insite on a problem of mine.

Hello everybody Well On Monday I bought a Springfield XD "SC" 9 mm. I bought it used there was a tag in the box that said it was bought 12/10/07 so I guess it isnt that old it has night sites on it. I took it sooting a few days ago and a couple shots were on but most of them were below by at least a foot. Could this be something wrong with the sites on the gun. I shot two different brands of 9 mm through it and still the same results I was going to take it back but I have work for the next few days and don't have off until next week. I just wanted to get your opinions on if you think it was me or the gun. My friend has one he bought about 3 weeks ago and I am almost dead on with it. Does anyone know if the Springfield XD are usually not accurate or if they have site problems.

If you are okay with your friends, and it is the same model, why not compare the sights?

Try shooting form a secure rest and see if you still have the problem.

My wife's XD-9 Tactical is quite accurate, and shoots to point of aim.

    Hi Jay,
I had the same problem with an XD-45, it had a big round night sight in the front and shot low and to the left for whoever shot it. I sent it back to Springfield and they took the night sights off, at my request, and now with regular sights it works well.
They will fix it if you send it to them. Give them a call...

Have some experienced shooters shoot the gun first. The sights are pressed into place with a hydraulic press...they don't move much. For the sights to be that low...you'd have to have a different height front sight or something.... What distance were you shooting at?

I'll bet it's not a problem with the sights....resting a gun on a bag doesn't eliminate finching and a sloppy trigger pull.....have someone shoot it whom you know is an excellent shot...then go from there.

    Good luck.

Read through this whole thread. It might help ya a little bit. Or if nothing else you'll know who on this forum has XD .9mm SC's and maybe you can speak with them directly.

Have an experienced shooter shoot it first. If they get the same results, I'd send it to Springfield. My guess would be after your first few shots you started anticipating recoil or looking for shots, and pulled low. How many rounds did you put through your friends?

yeah i had the same "issue" with my taurus Then I handed it to lycanthrope and watched him group up a bunch of shots pretty good on a target and realized it was me. Still not sure what I was doing but it is not the pistol at least. The taurus is very similar to the XD so perhaps it is how you are used to shooting. My other pistol is a full sized 45 with a very smooth trigger and the taurus has a more distinctive break.
