Homemade ar-10
Does anyone have any experience with arse armor? I like this idea of making my own rifle from an 80% lower with no serial number.

Ive never delt with that company. It is legal to build your own firearms in PA as long as you stay away from the NFA stuff nobody has to know. It is a good Idea to put your info and a serial number on it incase something happens to it. If you want more info on building sign up on www.weaponsguild.com great bunch of guys there.

Re: Homemade ar-10
Thanks for the web site. I'm going to register tonight and work the numbers for an ar-10 pistol. I've always wanted 308 in a small package.

It is legal to build your own until you get into NFA arms. Also you can't make them with the intent to sell. Then you would be considered a manufacture.
A lot of the 80% lower companies will have the BATF info published showing how it is legal. I have a friend that finished his lower on his mill. Works just the same as a lower from someone that makes them all the time.

selling a homebuilt is tricky and should be avoided IMO, but if you ever do have to sell just remove the "reciever" and sell as a parts kit. Yes you would be the manufacturer, You are only allowed to build for personal use not for resale.

Re: Homemade ar-10
I have been thinking of buying an 80% AR lower and finish machining it myself. I have a CNC mill so it is not a big challenge or anything. I would not really be saving much by finishing the lower myself, only FFL fees. Kinda like the idea of no paperwork.
Interested in hearing the pros and cons. I already know you can't sell the lower or give it to someone. But I did not see that as a big deal because you could just part the gun out (sans lower) or buy a commercial lower if you want to sell the rifle.
Some info on the legality.
